Kirurumu Serengeti Central Camp

Kirurumu Serengeti Central Camp is a lovely mobile camp, moved seasonally to take best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The camp is used as a base, a spring board for an early morning game drive, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a day’s adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire. As a small and intimate camp, the staff are on hand just to look after a very limited number of guests and so the level of attention and service is always excellent.

MOVEMENT LOCATION:

The camp moves around the scenically and outstandingly beautiful Moru Kopjes in June. Moru is the unique location for the Serengeti Rhino project and also by virtue of permanent water in the area boasts a large population of Lion, the area is not congested and it is much more remote and private. The resident game is plentiful and is the reason the Lion population is high. The migration may or may not move through the area in June and the pattern of the migration is very difficult to determine in advance being subject to weather patterns and availability of water for the large herds.

We are not permanent and use our seasonality and possible changing camp locations within a general area as being the most strategic given that the migration is unpredictable but always reachable from our camps. Generally, we avoid the most congested areas and use our superior knowledge and many years of experience to be located in areas that are less busy but excellent for wildlife.

Kirurumu Serengeti North Camp

Kirurumu Serengeti North Camp is a luxury mobile camp, moved seasonally to take best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The entire camp may be exclusively reserved for your private party.

This seasonal camp is open from June through to October each year and we are at classic and beautiful Sonzo private site at Kogatende.

One can never guarantee seeing the wildebeest migration but for this time of year our campsite is exceptionally well placed for wildebeest crossings of the great Mara River. The Kogatende area is characterized by rolling savannah woodland with far reaching views of the escarpment that borders the Maasai Mara Game Reserve and Kenya.

Kirurumu Serengeti South Camp

Kirurumu Serengeti South Camp is a luxury mobile camp, moved seasonally to take best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The camp is used as a base, a spring board for an early morning game drive, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a day’s adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire. The camp moves to the scenically and outstandingly beautiful Moru Kopjes in June. Moru is the unique location for the Serengeti Rhino project and also by virtue of permanent water in the area boasts a large population of Lion with densities approaching the Seronera area but unlike Seronera the area is not congested and it is much more remote and private. The resident game is plentiful and is the reason the Lion population is high. The migration may or may not move through the area in June and the pattern of the migration is very difficult to determine in advance being subject to weather patterns and availability of water for the large herds.

From late December to the end of March the camp moves to the Ndutu area of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Ndutu 2 campsite area offers access to the Serengeti short grass plains for the great migration and specifically when the wildebeests are carving around mid-February to early March. The lakes over essential water which brings the game in from the surrounding plains for excellent wildlife viewing. The area is also very good for lion, cheetah, and excellent plains game along with the migration.
